Specialisms.

Pearwood Block Carving and Block printing.

Since carving his first wallpaper printing block from pearwood in 2008, JRR has honed his skills and carved a collection of over 20 block printed wallpapers as well as one-off historic wallpaper recreations for private clients on both sides of the Atlantic. He was also recently commissioned to carve wallpaper printing blocks for Zuber & Cie, one of the oldest and most respected makers of historic scenic wallpapers in the world.

Once carved, these blocks are printed using traditional oar press printing techniques which date back to the 16th century. JRR is one of very few individuals still producing authentically made block printed wallpapers in this way.

These colours can then be replicated in hand mixed distemper paints.

All of the wallpapers in the James Randolph Rogers Collection are offered in bespoke hand mixed colours. JRR is one of very few individuals globally offering this  combination of pattern recreation, pigment analysis, pearwood block carving, block printing and specialist installation.
